We have and will continue to report on the atrocities met out in English courts and prison against Julian Assange- and the unfair imprisonment of Chelsea Manning in the United States. Recently, there is another deeply troubling event involving an American investigative journalist, Max Blumenthal
The following event challenges my belief that we should always remember to bless our enemy and not take pleasure in his suffering. Hearing a large audience respond to him in this way when he had the obvious pleasure of hearing this chant to the giant crowds of his admiring base- deeply tempts me.
The Young Turks struggled to deal with their bubbling sense of joy when they came to this intriguing quote from this President. The troubling joy was inspired by the validation that Trump has absolutely no clue about real love in a relationship- that he was heartless and he expected no heartfelt expression of sadness from the woman he was committed to even if he were shot and seriously injured. Perhaps as YT speculated, they could forgive themselves for this self-gratification because it was like seeing a true criminal brought to justice. A sense of righteousness is not the same as the pleasure Trump obviously took when he advised the police not to bother with protecting the heads of gang members when they were being placed in a police car after their arrest.
I struggle with this, too. There is sometimes a very thin line between emotions felt when watching Robin Hood triumph over the Sherriff of Nottingham and seeing a war criminal like Eichmann brought to justice with overwhelming evidence of his guilt. That is because, as vulnerable and non-discriminatory as we are- there is a thin line often between the Higher and Lower Self. But despite all this, the significance of Trump’s recent victory certainly brought him a lot of global acclaim.

With such a definitive statement, it might be fairly clueless to question this elaborately described event. Well, one of the things that Trump said was that Al-Baghdadi died “a coward”- like a dog. In Julius Caeser, Shakespeare says famously, “A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. WHY? OH WHY? DIDN’T WE TAKE THE OIL?
Tulsi Gabbard makes a great deal about the “regime change” wars. I absolutely think she is right. These futile wars are draining our country at a time when we are awash in personal, corporate and government debt. But I want to point out that,- in my opinion, military actions, to protect citizens from ethnic cleansing, political genocide or other immoral rationales for complete suppression of their human rights, their right for economic sustainability or to protect them from meaningless tyranny- that is, for genuinely humanistic reasons- should not be outrightly condemned. But these types of military actions by the United States should never be initiated without Congressional approval or violate the kinds of agreed-upon security council regulations that forbid countries that have not been attacked nor are protecting their nationals abroad from imminent aggression. What we have are now constitutionally illegal incursions into other countries that violate international law- and are justified under the banner of humanitarian rescue operations but are, in truth, imperialistic efforts to secure other countries’ resources. But right now, our Congress has no care to mandate its right to declare war nor an international regulatory body with the power to enforce any of its often righteous resolutions.

Among its numerous points of explaining the Federal Campaign Finance Law, it says: “Some reports indicate the Justice Department concluded that what Trump solicited—a Ukrainian government probe into one of President Trump’s political rivals—did not constitute a “thing of value” for purposes of campaign finance law. This is unsupportable…The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has long held that intangible items like opposition research can be things of value, an interpretation specifically cited by Special Counsel Mueller, whose report noted that “[a] campaign can be assisted not only by the provision of funds, but also by the provision of derogatory information about an opponent.”

Whereas Trump recently soft-pedaled his interaction and released transcripts of his phone conversation and ultimately the whistleblower complaint that had originally been withheld from Congressional scrutiny, many who have seen it- in mainstream and alternative media have found it not as innocent as presented by the President. Some, however,even on the Democratic side, like Tulsi Gabbard, did not feel that the issue rises to the level of impeachment.
