THE IMPRISONMENT OF JULIAN ASSANGE SYMBOLIZES ALL THAT WRONG WITH THE STATE OF OUR NATION & THE REST OF THE WORLD
The key to free nations choosing authoritarian government can be a relatively slow slide into self-deception and subsequent wrong choices. Initially, when a politician comes onto the scene, he makes certain promises and commitments, bolstered by his stated point of view. Trump started out as a politician claiming he wanted an end to endless wars but eventually, consciously or not, became a pawn of the powers that be. Similarly, he was a strong fan of Wikileaks when he thought it could propel him to victory- now he is willing to allow Julian Assange to be placed in virtually solitary confinement, not permitted to have the tools necessary to prepare a defense with a treatment described as torture by the UN Rapporteur. While the failed ethics of the Trump Administration is virtually endless- ranging from the destruction of proper regulatory rules protecting the environment, the separation of children from their parents, the exiting of the climate control treaty, the profit-taking of his businesses from foreign countries, the attacks on the press, etc.- his failures are probably no greater than those of Hillary Clinton, whose victory over Bernie Sanders was based on party corruption, whose actions in Libya were notorious, whose deals while Secretary of State profiting the so-called non-profit Clinton Foundation with numerous paid speaking engagements for her husband- much of that preceding the same undeserved aggression aimed at Tulsi Gabbard, who she basically accused of being a traitor.
Trump and Clinton both are willing to tear down the principles of democratic government to suit their own agendas. The temptation for both is money and greed. Unless we can find a way to transform many of our citizens into strongly informed and empowered advocates of freedom, the fight for liberty will be a losing one. This is what Tulsi Gabbard said recently
Control over the Press and Control over Elections is sufficient to exercise control over most everything in government, business, and media. And the attack on Assange and Gabbard represents an effort to create fear in the hearts of those who would make similar efforts to gain power in their respective domains. The recent magistrate’s court hearing is an example of how far an authoritarian state and its allies will go to suppress true freedom of the press. Consistent with my point of view is that we need to create a core group of informed and enlightened citizens strong enough to create a much more coherent set of laws and policies to reshape our government the way our Founding Fathers intended. But while much of their actions did not follow the cause for true equality of all men and women, our actions must, requiring, among many lobbying for that level of freedom, a true spiritual alignment. The Campaign Legal Center has published an October 3rd article by Brendan Fischer and Erin Chlopak entitled “Yes- President Trump Violated Campaign Finance Law Asking Ukraine Favor.
Among its numerous points of explaining the Federal Campaign Finance Law, it says: “Some reports indicate the Justice Department concluded that what Trump solicited—a Ukrainian government probe into one of President Trump’s political rivals—did not constitute a “thing of value” for purposes of campaign finance law. This is unsupportable…The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has long held that intangible items like opposition research can be things of value, an interpretation specifically cited by Special Counsel Mueller, whose report noted that “[a] campaign can be assisted not only by the provision of funds, but also by the provision of derogatory information about an opponent.”

Yet, with the progression of months, Nancy Pelosi resisted the first step in this direction, an impeachment inquiry. Yet, with a whistleblower complaint, suggesting that President Trump used his office to bargain with the President of Ukraine for negative information about one of his key political opponents, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi decided to open an inquiry. Whereas Trump recently soft-pedaled his interaction and released transcripts of his phone conversation and ultimately the whistleblower complaint that had originally been withheld from Congressional scrutiny, many who have seen it- in mainstream and alternative media have found it not as innocent as presented by the President. Some, however,even on the Democratic side, like Tulsi Gabbard, did not feel that the issue rises to the level of impeachment.
